Foundations

This section of the Driving Financial Sustainability for Byway Organizations CD includes suggestions from representatives of byways across the U.S. for developing funding from foundations and non-government charitable organizations. The byway representatives participating in the roundtable discussions for this project have partnered with foundations on the following types of projects or received the following types of support:

• brochure development - Learn more

• curriculum development

• design services for kiosk renderings and interpretive panels

• equipment use and manpower

• event development

• graffiti removal from byway geological formations

• historic building project support

• kiosk construction and placement

• natural resource preservation and promotion

• operating funds

• research assistance.

Several byway representatives indicated an interest in learning more about how to approach foundations with a byways project proposal and suggest this may be an area of training that the National Scenic Byway Foundation or America’s Byways Resource Center might provide.
